Recorded in 2020 at now defunct Pōneke music/beer loft The Third Eye, Volume 3 features the garrulous sax of Jeff Henderson with long term collaborators Paul Dyne and Rick Cranson. Henderson and Dyne have been playing together since the early 1990’s in many different groups including the Syzygy Creative Music Ensemble, in trio with legendary drummer Roger Sellars and with international jazz luminaries Steve Lacy and Mike Nock. Rick Cranson is also a long time musical partner of Henderson and Dyne. Familiar as the powerhouse drummer for Little Bushman and Kita, Rick has a long jazz history including leading his own quartet, regular performances with The Woods, The Big City Boys, James Illingworth, Tyson Smith and many more luminaries of the Wellington scene. This album- featuring compositions by Ornette Coleman and Thelonious Monk amongst improvisations and jazz standards - was recorded live in concert as part of the Wellington Jazz Cooperative concert series.
